The cozy village of Shilkovtsi is huddled in the municipality of Elena in the district of Veliko Tarnovo. It is only 6 km away from the beautiful town of Elena and 39 km from the historical town of Veliko Tarnovo.Shilkovtsi is located just next to the famous Yovkovtsi artifical dam.Elena municipality is located in the North - Central part of Bulgaria. The total area is 671,388 decares and its altitude is from 100 to 1500 m. the landscape is variable – from plain and indulating in the north to mountainous in the south with the typical steep mountainside and indented river valleys. Nature has been pretty benevolent in this region. A great number of small rivers and several deep and scenic gorges run across the Elena hollow. The hills are overgrown with deciduous trees. The Balkan woods are inhabited by wildboars, wolves and foxes, hares and does. Thera are more than 147 cultural monuments, 7 of which are with national importance.
